specialising in automatic lathe technology involves manufacturing turned
parts that are accurate in both size and shape. These are required in large
quantities and to a high level of accuracy, primarily for the automotive

industries. The main areas of work for a metalwork technician are installing
predominantly computer-run machinery, planning production runs, including

The training to become an industrial mechanic comprises the manufacture,
maintenance and upkeep of machinery, equipment and production systems.
